Host Sponges - How do they work?

Host Sponges

  • Non-abrasive
  • WoolSafe approved
  • Fully bio-degradable
  • Safe for the environment

Host sponges work in much the same way as an ordinary kitchen sponge. Just like you would use a sponge to wipe up a spill or to wash and absorb dirt from counter or a wall, Host is used to clean and absorb dirt from your carpet.

Why is Host dry extraction cleaning so effective?

Too often carpet cleaning is delayed to avoid the long drying time and long shut down periods, that's where the beauty of the Host dry extraction system lies! With Host, carpet cleaning becomes routine, not a specialist project. Because Host is a dry cleaning process, your carpets are back in service as soon as the cleaning is done.

  • No need to turn on heating systems to dry the carpet
  • No smelly wet cleaning chemicals or solvents
  • No need to waste gallons of water down the drain
  • No over wetting and never any shrinkage
  • No wet carpet, no down time, no shutdown periods
  • No heavy equipment or hazardous trailing hoses

Why should I insist on having my carpets dry-cleaned?

Would you put an expensive wool suit in a washing machine? Of course you wouldn’t, you would have it professionally dry cleaned, Host works on the same principle! Host is safe to use on all kinds of carpet, including wool, sisal, seagrass and oriental rugs.

Because Host doesn’t use heat, steam or gallons of water there’s never any shrinkage or colour loss, so by comparison to wet cleaning Host is not only perfect for cleaning your carpets and upholstery, it’s great for the environment and saves money on your energy bill too.

How often should I have my carpets and upholstery cleaned?

Carpets and upholstery are invaded daily by general soiling, food particles and spills which in turn can create an ideal breeding ground for fleas, dust mites and bacteria. Just as the clothes we wear need regular cleaning to keep them fresh, hygienic and free from unpleasant odours, so carpets and upholstery require regular cleaning too.

In the home, we recommend carpets are cleaned every six months and upholstery once a year. In a business premises or public building foot traffic is much higher so more regular intervals of cleaning are required.

How can I prevent my carpets from wearing so quickly?

Often insufficient thought is given to carpet beyond routine vacuuming and spot cleaning, both tasks play a fundamental part of maintenance but more specialised equipment and knowledge is required in order to clean and maintain carpets more thoroughly.

Accumulated soil and grit are the main causes of reduced carpet life. As dirt, dust and grit particles collect deep into the base of the carpet pile and surface friction produced by daily foot traffic, the carpet fibres erode against the dirt and grit, the fibres become brittle and eventually snap off! That worn out carpet by the door and the bald patch in front of the Sofa could have simply been avoided with regular cleaning.

A vast majority of carpets and soft furnishings are replaced as a direct consequence of improper or insufficient cleaning. When you consider the replacement costs it’s obvious that by comparison, the cost of regular cleaning is minimal, it’s an investment for the future.
